Veteran Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has publicly apologised to his wife, Natasha, his children, and fans after facing backlash for a recent comment about men and monogamy.
The Afrobeats legend stirred controversy during a podcast appearance where he claimed that men are naturally not designed to be sexually committed to one woman. His remark quickly went viral, sparking heated debates across social media platforms. While some defended the statement as a candid reflection of human nature, others criticised it as an excuse for infidelity and disrespectful to women.
In his words, “A man is not built to sexually be with one woman. A man can love one woman to death, but it’s impossible for a man to sexually be with one woman only. It’s the biology of man.”
Following the widespread reactions, 2Baba has now retracted the statement and issued an apology. The singer described his earlier comment as “unlegendary” and admitted it was an ill-considered remark that should never have been made. 2Baba apologised to his wife, Natasha Osawaru, his children, and his loyal fans for any hurt or disappointment caused by his words.
The singer’s public apology has since drawn mixed reactions, with some commending his accountability while others questioned the sincerity of his remorse.
