Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has finally spoken publicly about his separation from actress and longtime partner, Annie Macaulay.

The African Queen hitmaker made the revelation during a recent podcast appearance with media personality Nedu and his co-hosts.

When asked about the reasons behind the end of their marriage and if he had any regrets, 2Baba chose to remain diplomatic and respectful, praising Annie while carefully avoiding blame.

“I think both of us gave it our best,” he said. “Why we’re not together today is not something I’m going to start talking about here in public. Me and her, we get our understanding. She’s amazing, like I said earlier. It just wasn’t working no more. That’s just it.”

Pressed on whether the marriage collapsed because of him or Annie, the singer declined to delve into details. “That one na something wey don happen. That’s why I say I no go talk that one here,” he added.

The relationship between 2Baba and Annie Macaulay had always played out in the public eye, from their romantic beginnings and turbulent moments to their appearance on the Netflix reality show Young, Famous & African. Despite their many ups and downs, 2Baba’s recent comments reflect a decision to protect their privacy even in separation.

In a separate moment from the interview, 2Baba stirred heated conversations online after making a bold statement about male sexuality. The veteran singer declared, “A man is not built to sexually be with one woman. A man can love one woman die, but it’s impossible for a man to sexually be with one woman only. It’s the biology of man.”

His remark instantly divided social media users. While some applauded him for what they described as “unfiltered honesty,” others criticized the comment as a poor excuse for infidelity, arguing that love and loyalty should remain inseparable in relationships.

Known for being candid about his personal life, 2Baba is no stranger to controversy.
