The Edo State House of Assembly took a lighthearted turn during Monday’s plenary session when Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osaworu, fiancée of Nigerian music legend 2Baba, introduced herself with a name that instantly sparked recognition—and laughter.
“My name is Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osaworu, née Idibia,” she said, drawing chuckles from fellow lawmakers as she took the floor. The moment, captured in a video seen by TheCable, highlighted her public connection to Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, one of Nigeria’s most iconic musicians.
The name-drop wasn’t just a personal touch—it reminded many of the whirlwind romance that’s kept Natasha in the headlines in recent months. Since 2Baba announced his separation from actress Annie Idibia earlier this year and confirmed his relationship with the Egor constituency lawmaker, social media has been abuzz with speculation and commentary.
In February, the African Queen crooner made headlines again when he proposed to Natasha, emphasizing that their relationship began after his split from Annie.
But while her personal life continues to trend, Natasha’s political journey hit a bump this week. On the same day as her headline-making introduction, she was removed from her position as Minority Leader in the state assembly. The shake-up follows a major power shift after four lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), giving the latter the majority.
Natasha wasn’t the only casualty of the new political math—Charity Aiguobarueghian, former Majority Leader, and Chief Whip Yekini Idaiye were also relieved of their leadership roles.
