Guinea-Bissau forward Carlos Mane, in the pre-match press conference, has revealed why it is important for the team to defeat the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the final match of the group stage at AFCON 2023.

The pre-match press conference held by Guinea Bissau on Sunday, January 21, 2024, showed the squad’s mentality ahead of their final game in the group stage of AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast. Guinea Bissau since the commencement of the competition has failed to pick up key points and suffered huge defeats in the hands of the hosts, Ivory Coast and another group-stage country, Equatorial Guinea.

Carlos Mane, a forward for Guinea Bissau, has revealed that the squad is poised and training so hard to cut the party and excitement of the Super Eagles of Nigeria short at AFCON 2023. It is no surprise that Guinea Bissau has expressed this level of confidence as the country is known to be torn in the flesh of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a competitive fixture.

Mane said, “We want to play for pride, for our country and family. We want to finish the tournament with point(s) and we want to win tomorrow. I know the Super Eagles coach (Jose Peseiro), we have worked together, he is a very good coach but we are going to give our best tomorrow.”

Peseiro reveals how the Super Eagles will approach the final group stage of the AFCON 2023 fixture against Guinea Bissau

The head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria José Peseiro, has revealed that the approach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the final AFCON 2023 group stage fixture which will be against Guinea Bissau is bound to be a different one as compared to how the previous games have been approached by the Super Eagles of Nigeria so far in the competition.

With Nigeria searching for at least one point from the fixture which will be played on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 6 pm WAT, it is expected that the team adopts a more attacking formation with all the players in the squad fully fit and ready to go.
