All eyes will be on one of the biggest fixtures of AFCON 2023, Egypt vs Ghana which is scheduled for kick-off today, Thursday, January 18, 2024.
Egypt vs Ghana is a crucial fixture for the two national teams who have still not picked up three points since the competition kicked off on Friday, January 13, 2024.
Egypt managed to steal one point in the 1-1 draw against Mozambique in group B of AFCON 2023. The result stunned the football world as many believed that the Pharaohs of Egypt had not been in the best of forms in the fixture raising questions as to the possibility of the team qualifying for the knockout stage of the tournament.
The Black Stars of Ghana had been disappointing in their first AFCON 2023 fixture as they lost in the final minutes of the fixture against Cape Verde. Many have also expressed concerns about how Ghana is at the moment with the team’s star player Mohamed Kudus missing the fixture due to injury.
Egypt vs Ghana injury update
With no reports of any sort of injury in the camp of Egypt, Ghana, on the other hand, has been saddled with an injury concern in the person of Mohamed Kudus who missed the Black Stars’ first match against Cape Verde at AFCON 2023.
It was stated that Kudus had trained with the team on Wednesday, but it still remains uncertain as to if he will be available as a substitute or a starter in the game.
