First-Time Grammy Nominee, Davido has opened up about his sentiments upon receiving three Grammy nominations simultaneously.

The Nigerian international singer achieved this milestone in 2023, securing nominations in the categories of Best African Music Performance, Best Global Music Album, and Best Global Music Performance.

In an exclusive interview with the Recording Academy that surfaced online today, Thursday, February 1, 2024, Davido shared insights into his reaction upon learning about the prestigious Grammy nominations.

Recounting the moment, he revealed that he was at home with his wife, Chioma, when the news reached him. The singer expressed that, like any other day, he took a shower, prayed, and had breakfast before being informed about the nominations. Notably, the first person he contacted was his manager, Asa Asika, to share the exciting news.

In his words, “I was at home; the nomination list came out quite early. I took a shower, prayed, and ate breakfast just like a regular day, my wife was with me, but the first person I spoke to on the phone was my manager, Asa.”

Describing the aftermath of the announcement, Davido mentioned, “I went on Twitter, and Instagram; my WhatsApp was blowiing up, and people just started calling, and everybody was happy.”

During the interview, the King of Afrobeats delved into why the nomination for his Timeless album held special significance. Despite investing substantial effort into all his projects over his 13-year career, Davido emphasized that Timeless was crafted after a hiatus, making the creative process unique and deliberate.

He highlighted the personal nature of the Timeless album, describing it as a deeply personal experience for both him and his dedicated team.
