Nigerian producer Pheelz shared insights on his partnership with Usher, delving into its personal significance and the impact it had on him.

Pheelz contributed as both a featured artist and producer on Ruin, a track from Usher’s recent album, Homecoming. In an interview on Apple Music Halftime Show, Pheelz highlighted the collaboration as a significant milestone for Nigerian music, emphasizing the realization of dreams and the global reach of Nigerian musical talent.

During the interview he said, “I would listen to Usher almost every day growing up. I literally dived into his albums and learned from him. And to be able to write, produce, and teach him [Usher] in a way, it shows me how far the [Nigerian] music has gone. It shows me how far dreams can go as well”.
When questioned about his perception of Afrobeat music, he characterized the genre as “beautiful energy”. According to Rated R&B, Ruins by Usher has scored a top 10 debut on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart. It’s Usher’s 19th top 10 hit on this chart.
