Nigerian hip-hop rapper Odumodublvck has revealed that he has dumbed down his lyrics for fans to understand.

Nigerian rapper OdumoduBlvck has revealed that he is capable of producing hardcore hip-hop akin to American star Eminem, but has chosen not to pursue this style because he believes Nigerians do not fully grasp the essence of hip-hop.

In a recent podcast interview, OdumoduBlvck explained that the Nigerian audience predominantly favors melodic music, prompting him to simplify his rap style to appeal to a wider audience and achieve commercial success.

He expressed his desire to make Nigerian rap more engaging and dynamic, drawing a parallel to how Wizkid revolutionized R&B in the country. OdumoduBlvck stated, “Some Nigerians did pure rap but they didn’t make it exciting for people to gravitate towards it. People said my rap sounds like nursery school rhymes. I dumbed it down so I can sell these records, so you don’t have to think twice. When you listen to my rap, if you understand the lingo you get it once. You don’t have to go to any dictionary. It’s not hardcore rap. It’s easy. I’ve made it exciting. Just like Wizkid, I want to make my rap sweet and exciting“.

He expressed that some hip-hop artists made pure rap but it wasn’t exciting. He said, “Some Nigerians did pure rap but they didn’t make it exciting for people to gravitate towards it”.

While OdumoduBlvck is confident in his ability to deliver hardcore rap similar to Eminem’s, he recognizes the limitations of such a style in the Nigerian music scene. He believes that his audience prefers rap that is more straightforward and relatable, rather than complex and intricate.

“I can rap like Eminem and all these guys but bro where I come from nobody is gonna listen to that stuff.
