Manchester City and England midfielder Phil Foden has been awarded the Football Writers Association’s (FWA) Best Premier League Player of the Season for 2023/24.
The award was announced on Friday, May 3rd, 2024. Foden is a vital player in the Manchester City team, having scored 24 goals and made 10 assists with four games still to play this season. He was named the winner of the award due to his impressive performances in the league this season. He stepped up superbly to fill the boots of Kevin De Bruyne when the Belgian was out injured for most of the season.
In the vote, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice came in second behind Foden, while his Manchester City teammate Rodri was third. Martin Odegaard and Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins finished fourth and fifth respectively, with Cole Palmer coming in sixth.
Foden will be hoping to help Manchester City win both the Premier League and FA Cup, which would serve as added motivation for him to win the PFA award.
