The hosts of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 has been confirmed in an official event held by the football governing body.

Following the initial announcement of the Women’s Club World Cup 2026, the world football governing body, FIFA has now confirmed the country that would host the 2027 edition of the Women’s World Cup.

In an open vote system which was the first of its kind, the host country of the 10th edition of the Women’s World Cup was decided to be Brazil.

Brazil was selected to host the 2027 edition of the tournament and the Women’s World Cup for the first time.

This decision comes after a vote at Fifa’s congress in Bangkok on Friday, May 17, 2024, where member associations voted 119 to 78 in favour of Brazil.

The joint bid presented by the Netherlands and Germany (BNG) was unsuccessful, making Brazil the first nation to be awarded the hosting rights through an open vote.

Reacting to the recent achievement FIFA president, Gianni Infantino stated, “Congratulations to Brazil, We will have the best World Cup in Brazil. Many thanks as well to the BNG bid, who have been fantastic.”

How did Brazil win the bid to host the Women’s World Cup 2027?

Both proposals fulfilled the hosting requirements, but Brazil received a higher score in technical aspects, including stadiums, lodging, fan areas, and transportation, in a Fifa bid assessment.

The joint bid from the United States and Mexico was withdrawn in April, with the intention of focusing on bidding for the tournament in 2031, and South Africa also withdrew its bid in November.
