Reports now indicate that Victor Osimhen’s Napoli will be getting a new head coach ahead of the 2024/2025 club football season.

Antonio Conte is said to be on the verge of joining Napoli after finalizing his contract terms with Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Napoli has decided to speed up the process for the 54-year-old coach as Gian Piero Gasperini who won the Europa League with Atalanta opted to remain at the club for another season. Discussions resumed on Friday and progressed rapidly over the past 48 hours.

Napoli’s directors Giovanni Manna and Andrea Chiavelli have remained in close communication with Conte over the last few days, presenting a three-year contract valued at around €6.5-7m net per season plus €2m in bonuses, eager to embark on a new era in the Campania capital.

According to Sky Italia, negotiations are advancing rapidly, though it might take a few days to finalize the move. The current figures suggest the deal for Conte is valued at €60 million, a record amount for a Napoli manager. In fact, no previous manager has come anywhere near that figure.

What does Conte coming to Napoli mean for Osimhen?

It remains to be seen if Antonio Conte can convince Victor Osimhen to remain at the club as things stand and other reports have also indicated that Conte is looking to move forward with another forward like Romelu Lukaku.

The future of Victor Osimhen remains undecided after the Nigerian international has been linked to different clubs in England such as Chelsea.

Napoli missed out on qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, unable to match their stellar performance from last season when they clinched the Serie A title. Juventus and Bologna secured the final UCL spots after Atalanta’s crucial win over Roma, leaving Napoli out of the running for elite European competition.
