Nigerian record producer and singer, Young Jonn has opened up about a humiliating experience he faced during the video shoot for Olamide’s hit song Awon Goons Mi in 2014.
The Xtra Cool crooner revealed in an interview with MTV Base on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, how he was publicly embarrassed by music video director, Unlimited LA.
Young Jonn recounted how Unlimited LA shouted at him to leave the front of the camera during the shoot, which left him feeling humiliated.
“Some years ago, we were on the set of ‘Awon Goons Mi,’ which was produced by Pheelz and I. Unlimited LA was shooting the video. I was new to the YBNL record label at that time so he probably didn’t know me. Everybody was going to the front of the camera one by one to pose, but when it got to my turn, Unlimited LA shouted at me to leave the place. I almost died. It was as if I should enter the ground. But that is in the past now,” Young Jonn shared.
Despite the awkward encounter, Young Jonn now laughs it off, acknowledging that it’s all water under the bridge. The incident occurred during Young Jonn’s early days at the YBNL record label, where he was gaining recognition for his production skills alongside Pheelz.
Young Jonn has since carved out a successful career as a solo artist and continues to produce hits within the Nigerian music industry.
