The Alleged Cause of the Latest Wizkid and Davido Drama

The latest conflict between Wizkid and Davido was allegedly sparked by revelations surrounding a recent endorsement deal.

Wizkid and Davido

According to reports, Wizkid and Davido clashed after Wizkid claimed that the global sportswear giant Puma initially approached him with a multi-million-dollar offer but eventually moved on to Davido. Wizkid explained that he turned down the deal because it didn’t meet his financial expectations, leading Puma to finalize the agreement with Davido.

This incident added another layer of tension between Wizkid and Davido, two artists who have both made significant contributions to the music industry. Their relationship has seen its fair share of ups and downs, and this latest development has left many wondering if they will ever reconcile. The conflict intensified when Wizkid reiterated that he had no issues with Davido securing the deal, but felt the brand’s budget didn’t align with his perceived worth.

The situation took an interesting turn when a tech guru, Nelson Elpega, weighed in on the issue during a social media exchange. Nelson argued that Puma’s decision to go with Davido was due to his higher relevance and visibility in today’s music scene.

He wrote, “Wizkid and Davido have different levels of appeal right now. Wizkid, you haven’t had a hit in the last four years, while Davido is out in the U.S. unveiling his Puma collection.”

Wizkid was quick to respond, asserting that he turned down Puma’s offer because they didn’t meet his financial demands, not because he was jealous of Davido or any other artist.

“I’m not jealous of Davido or anyone else. I respect their success, but I’m on a different level when it comes to my worth,” Wizkid said.

Nelson countered, claiming that Puma could afford to pay Wizkid but chose Davido due to his current relevance. He stated, “It’s not about them being unable to afford you; it’s that Davido’s appeal is stronger right now.”

Wizkid stood by his decision, emphasizing that while Puma is a major global brand, their budget for the African market didn’t match his expectations. He made it clear that he had no problem with Davido landing the deal, but it wasn’t the right financial move for him. This ongoing debate between Wizkid and Davido underscores the complexities of brand endorsements in the entertainment industry. Both artists remain influential figures, and the decision to turn down or accept deals like this can fuel rivalry and misunderstandings.

Whether this will escalate the tension between Wizkid and Davido or pave the way for reconciliation remains uncertain. For now, both continue to thrive in their own lanes, elevating African music on the global stage.
