Nigerian content creator and singer Ogunleye Babatunde Olamide, widely known as Oluwadolarz, recently shared a troubling encounter with a music executive, shedding light on the darker side of the music industry.
On Sunday, October 20, the popular skit maker, who boasts over 4.7 million followers on Instagram, took to the platform to reveal an unsettling proposition he received. He alleged that a gay music executive demanded sexual favors in exchange for promoting his music. While he refrained from naming the individual involved, Oluwadolarz made it clear he was uncomfortable with the proposal.
In his post, he wrote, “You will promote my songs. Endorse my music. Help me top the charts. But make I first bend over make you enter my y*nsh. E.n.k.r sir,” highlighting the exploitation and harassment some artists face in their pursuit of success.
Born on October 11, 1994, in Lagos, Oluwadolarz is the CEO of Oluwadolarz Room of Comedy and has solidified his status as a prominent figure in the Nigerian entertainment scene. His ability to connect with audiences through humor and relatable content has garnered him a massive fanbase across various social media platforms.
This revelation underscores the challenges within the music industry but also sparks crucial conversations about same-sex relationships in Nigeria, a country where such topics remain deeply controversial. Since the passage of the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act in 2014, which imposes severe penalties for same-sex relationships, discussions surrounding LGBTQ+ issues have become increasingly important yet contentious.
