Nigerian music superstar Wizkid has achieved an impressive milestone on Spotify, setting a new record for the highest first-day streams by any song with his hit single “Piece of My Heart.”
The song garnered an astonishing 1.01 million streams on its debut day, showcasing his immense popularity and the track’s widespread appeal. Wizkid made headlines as “Piece of My Heart” shattered previous records on Spotify, solidifying his place in the music world. The Grammy-winning artist unveiled his highly anticipated single “Piece of My Heart” over the weekend, featuring the talented American singer-songwriter Brent Faiyaz.
Fans had eagerly awaited this collaboration, and the song’s fusion of Wizkid’s Afrobeat sound with Faiyaz’s soulful R&B style did not disappoint, creating a captivating musical experience.
According to Turntable Charts on X (formerly Twitter), “Piece of My Heart” reached the 1.01 million milestone on its first day of release, setting a new record for the biggest first-day streams by any song on Spotify Nigeria. The platform noted: “‘Piece of My Heart’ with Brent Faiyaz recorded 1.01 million streams in its first day of release on Spotify Nigeria, surpassing @asakemusik and @wizkidayo’s ‘MMS’ (870K) and ‘IDK’ with @Zlatan_Ibile (626K).”
This feat also sees Wizkid breaking his own record, previously shared with Asake for their chart-topping single “MMS.” With “Piece of My Heart” now holding the title, it becomes Africa’s first song to surpass 1 million opening-day streams on Spotify.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the soul-stirring track, released on Friday, serves as the lead single from Wizkid’s upcoming album ‘Morayo,’ which is set to drop on November 22. “Piece of My Heart,” produced by P2J and Dpat, showcases a perfect blend of Wizkid’s Afrobeats and Brent Faiyaz’s R&B flair. The track, which features smooth and heartfelt lyrics, conveys unshakable love, passion, and devotion.
