Nigerian singer Ayra Starr recently opened up about her passion for cooking, highlighting how essential traditional meals, especially yam and eggs, are to her well-being while on tour. In an engaging conversation with fellow artist Coco Jones, the two discussed their music careers, relaxation techniques, and the comfort of home-cooked meals.

“Whenever I’m on the road, one thing I’m definitely going to do is find a way to watch my favorite TV shows, even if it’s just for three minutes on my phone,” Ayra Starr said, emphasizing the importance of carving out moments of relaxation amid her busy schedules.

The “Rush” singer expressed her unwavering love for Nigerian cuisine, stating, “I try to eat Nigerian food wherever I go because it keeps me happy. I often find myself asking, ‘Are we eating burgers again? Please, no more burgers!’”

Ayra Starr revealed that cooking brings her a sense of peace, explaining, “I prefer to stay in serviced apartments whenever I can so that I can cook. It helps center me. Even after a long day, whether it’s 9, 10, or 11 p.m., cooking is my way of unwinding.”

Despite the pressures of her rising career, Ayra Starr emphasized the importance of her support system. “I’m grateful for my friends; they keep me grounded. We have group chats, and I try to keep them involved in my life, but they understand when I need to take a step back,” she shared. “Sometimes I just disappear when it gets overwhelming.”
