Our favourite post-wave psych outfit Holograph has just released a brand new single titled “Green Sky” and we already have this one on steady repeat.
Out today via The Good Times Co., the song is a quest for faith and renewal in an era dominated by technology, skepticism and self-doubt. With driving guitars and a gently optimistic vocal line, there’s a touch of softness to “Green Sky” that was perhaps lost on previous releases by Holograph, and it does well to compliment their thematic explorations.
Alongside the new single, the band will also unarchive and release an EP from their final days performing and recording in South Africa before making the decision to relocate to Amsterdam.
Now, they deliver a heartfelt reflection on the search for spirituality, bringing to mind the sounds of Beach House and Cigarettes After Sex.
There’s an implicit acceptance in these chords, in these atmospheric layers of sound, as though Holograph are no longer reckoning with their fate, but embracing it. A warmth that feels like taking one deep breath, a sigh of relief, and letting go of all your worries for just a little while.
