FIFA has officially revealed the nominees for The Best FIFA Football Awards 2024, celebrating the standout performers from an exciting year in both women’s and men’s football at club and international levels.
Fans can now cast their votes on FIFA.com across several prestigious categories, including The Best FIFA Men’s Player, The Best FIFA Women’s Player, The Best FIFA Men’s Coach, The Best FIFA Women’s Coach, The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper, and The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper. The winners in these categories will be determined through an equal voting split between fans, national team captains and coaches, and media representatives.
The FIFA Fan Award, which honors the most passionate and inspiring fan moments, will be decided entirely by fan votes. Meanwhile, the FIFA Fair Play Award, recognizing outstanding sportsmanship, will be chosen by a dedicated expert panel.
For the newly introduced FIFA Marta Award, celebrating exceptional contributions to football, and the FIFA Puskás Award for the year’s best goal, voting will be equally divided between fans and a panel of FIFA Legends.
How are the winners for FIFA’s The Best Football Awards 2024 decided?
This year’s The Best FIFA Football Award introduces a significant change, allowing fans to directly participate in selecting The Best FIFA Men’s 11 and The Best FIFA Women’s 11. From a shortlist of 77 players comprising 22 defenders, 22 midfielders, 22 forwards, and 11 goalkeepers fans can assemble their ideal team using one of several tactical formations. Votes will be equally split between fans and an expert panel.
Additionally, the FIFA Puskás Award has been redefined to honor the scorer of the best goal in men’s football, irrespective of league or nationality. Meanwhile, the inaugural FIFA Marta Award, named after the legendary Brazilian footballer, will celebrate the best goal scored in women’s football across any competition worldwide.
