Wizkid’s latest album, Morayo, has made a strong entry into the global music scene, debuting at No. 98 on the prestigious Billboard 200 chart. The news was confirmed by Chart Data on Monday, revealing that the album sold an impressive 13,000 units in its first week.

Released on November 22, Morayo is a deeply personal project for the Nigerian superstar, serving as a tribute to his late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023. The album features a diverse range of tracks, including hits like “Troubled Mind,” “Karamo,” “Kese (Dance),” “Bad Girl, ‘Break Me Down’, ‘Bend’, and ‘A Million Blessings’, ‘Après Minuit’, ‘Bad for You’, ‘Soji’, ‘Don’t Care’, ‘Slow’, ‘Lose’, and ‘Pray’.It also showcases collaborations with prominent artists such as Asake, Brent Faiyaz, Jazmine Sullivan, Anaïs Cardot, and Tiakola, adding rich variety to the album’s sound.

The success of Morayo adds to Wizkid’s legacy following the global acclaim of his previous albums. His 2020 project, Made in Lagos, became the most-streamed Nigerian album on Apple Music, and earned him RIAA Gold certification in 2022 for surpassing 500,000 units sold in the U.S.

Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, first captured international attention with his debut album, Superstar, in 2011, and has since released other successful projects, including Ayo (2014), Sound from the Other Side (2017), and More Love, Less Ego (2022). His career has been marked by numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award in 2021 for his collaboration with Beyoncé on the hit song “Brown Skin Girl.”
