The finalists for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year 2024 award have been confirmed in an official announcement.

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been honoured once again for her stellar performances, earning a spot on the shortlist for the 2024 CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.

The Paris FC shot-stopper is among the final five nominees for the prestigious accolade, which will be announced on December 16, 2024, at the Palais des Congrès de Marrakech in Morocco.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the top five nominees across various women’s categories for the 2024 CAF Awards. Nnadozie has also been nominated for the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, a title she proudly claimed last year.

CAF revealed that the awards cover the period from January to October 2024. “This year’s nominees showcase excellence in women’s football across Africa, recognizing outstanding performances at both club and national team levels,” CAF stated. The Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year category features five exceptional goalkeepers, while the Interclub Player of the Year award highlights the top performers in continental competitions.

For the Women’s Player of the Year title, Nnadozie will compete against Malawi’s “dynamic sisters” Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga, Morocco’s Sanaâ Mssoudy, and Zambia’s Barbra Banda.

In other categories, Falconets forward Chiamaka Okwuchukwu has been shortlisted for the Women’s Young Player of the Year award, thanks to her impressive display at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

Nigerian champions Edo Queens, who finished fourth at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, are contenders for the Women’s Club of the Year award. Meanwhile, the Super Falcons are in the running for Women’s National Team of the Year, competing against South Africa, Morocco, Zambia, and Cameroon’s U-20 team.

Falconets head coach Chris Danjuma also made the Coach of the Year award shortlist.

CAF noted that the winners in each category would be selected through a voting process involving the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, head coaches, and captains of Member Associations, as well as clubs participating in the group stages of interclub competitions.
