Here is why the next El Classico fixture might be played at Wembley stadium

According to recent reports the next El Classico fixture (Barcelona vs Real Madrid) might be played at the Wembley Stadium in the UK.

It has been revealed that there is every possibility that the next El Classico fixture (Barcelona vs Real Madrid) scheduled for May 2025, will be played outside Spain with Wembley Stadium coming up as one of the places in talks for the match.

Barcelona’s Camp Nou renovations continue to face delays, raising doubts about hosting the upcoming El Clasico against Real Madrid in May. The club is now considering alternative venues, with Wembley Stadium emerging as a surprising option. Boasting a 90,000-seat capacity, Wembley would provide a grand stage for the iconic match.

Although FIFA rules stipulate league games must be played within the same territory, both La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation are reportedly open to supporting Barcelona’s request to hold the game in England. Discussions are ongoing, with a meeting set to decide the next steps.

Currently, Barcelona is using the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys (Montjuic) as their temporary home. However, their contract for Montjuic ends in April, as the venue will host other scheduled events. This leaves Barcelona in a race against time to secure a venue for their remaining home fixtures and potential Champions League games.

Meanwhile, the Camp Nou renovation project, initially expected to be completed by the 2025-26 season, faces uncertainty, further complicating the club’s plans.
