Four managers were shortlisted by the Premier League body for the best manager of the month award in January 2025.
The list of managers was announced on the official website of the Premier League on Thursday, January 30, 2025. They were selected based on their impressive performance for their respective clubs in January.
Who are the shortlisted candidates for the best manager for January 2025?
(1) Mikel Arteta:
Mikel Arteta led his team to securing 11 points from a possible 15, this effort saw him keep the pressure on the league leaders, Liverpool. Arsenal took seven out of nine points on the road with wins at Brentford and Wolves, with a 1-1 draw at Brighton. Arsenal also won the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur and drew with Aston Villa.
(2) Pep Guardiola:
Guardiola saw his side return to form as they were the highest-scoring side in the Premier League in January. They scored 15 goals in four matches that included a 6-0 win at Ipswich Town and a 4-1 success over West Ham United. Man City’s 3-1 win against Chelsea put them back into the top four for the first time since 7 December.
(3) Eddie Howe:
Newcastle United started the month with an impressive 2-1 comeback win at Tottenham Hotspur. This was followed up with a 3-0 success at home to Wolves – their sixth straight Premier League victory. Newcastle United lost one match in January, at home to AFC Bournemouth, but finished the month with a 3-1 win at Southampton that moved them up to fifth in the table.
(4) Andoni Iraola:
Bournemouth’ started their quest to finish in a European position with a 1-0 win over Everton. They played a 2-2 draw at Chelsea which was followed by an emphatic 4-1 success at in-form Newcastle before they ended the month with an incredible 5-0 win against third-placed Nottingham Forest.
The winner of the best player award will be announced on Friday, February 7, 2025 after the votes by the fans and panel of experts have been combined.
