22-year-old Nigerian singer-songwriter Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, best known as Ayra Starr, is facing backlash on X (formerly Twitter) for dancing to ‘Pxy Drip,’ a song by Naira Marley—an artist who was supposedly “cancelled.”
Naira Marley’s latest single, Pxy Drip, is currently trending on TikTok with over 404,000 user-generated videos on the platform. The rapper was unofficially declared cancelled by music consumers after being accused of playing a role in Mohbad’s untimely death in 2023.
Fans on X have boldly stated that they will no longer listen to his music, as Naira Marley was heavily criticised and accused of involvement in Mohbad’s death. Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Records, had been pushing for independence and launching his own imprint, Imolenization, before his passing.
I’m so disappointed in Ayra Starr for listening and promoting Naira Marley’s song. We need to cancel her!😡 pic.twitter.com/PAOI8mc4Zt

Ayra Starr, who is signed to Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, allegedly posted a now-deleted TikTok video vibing to Naira Marley’s song. Fans are outraged on X, expressing their disapproval and refusing to tolerate her support for the controversial artist.
Here are some comments from fans on X;
@TheDamiForeign: “I’m so disappointed in Ayra Starr for listening and promoting Naira Marley’s song. We need to cancel her!😡”
@Remmzor__: “Ayra Starr drop album for the girlies, them air am, she turn malians… Life 😔”
@____whitney_: “This Ayra Starr video will expose how everyone is inherently hypocritical and we will always make excuses for our faves 🤣”
@Obeyamark: ”Not only this, btw. During the time the videos were trending that Mohbad was being bullied everywhere. Ayra Starr made a song with Zinoleesky. Objectively speaking, no reason for anyone to think they’re better listening to her and criticise people for listening to Odumodu.”
@47kasz: “You people have been waiting for Ayra Starr to fuck up.. this is a witch hunt I’m shaking rn”
