Nigerian singer Ruger has reacted to being overlooked at the 2025 Headies Awards with a sarcastic social media post.

The Bounce crooner took to X on Friday, February 14, 2025, to share his thoughts on the prestigious award ceremony.

In his post, Ruger wrote: “Shoutout to the most incredible award event in the whole world, THE HEADIES. Thank you for recognizing the hard work of ALL ARTISTS. Very soon you will be bigger than all the awards in the whole world. Amen.”

The post, which many interpreted as a subtle jab at the organizers, quickly gained traction, with fans debating whether the singer was genuinely appreciative or throwing shade at the award show.

The Headies, often regarded as Nigeria’s most prestigious music award, celebrates excellence in the country’s entertainment industry. The 2025 edition featured a highly competitive lineup of nominees, including artists like Burna Boy, Asake, Ayra Starr, Tems, Davido, and Rema. However, on the Headies Awards 2025 nominee list, Ruger, despite his successful run with hit songs and collaborations, failed to secure a nomination in any category.

Fans of the singer have since taken to social media to express their disappointment, with some arguing that Ruger’s contributions to the industry deserved recognition. Meanwhile, the singer’s cryptic post has fueled further discussions about transparency and fairness in award shows.
