Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reacted strongly to a controversial report by a popular Instagram blog that falsely linked him to a kidnapping case.
The report, which quickly went viral, included a video of three men who had been apprehended by residents of an estate in Lagos State. In the footage, one of the suspects introduced himself as “Ifeanyi from Anambra State,” while the alleged leader confirmed his nickname as “Davido,” stating, “Davido is my nickname. I came to kidnap.” The other two suspects claimed to be from Kwara and Imo states.
The Instagram blog captioned the video with a misleading claim: “Davido and two others apprehended for kidnapping in Lagos.” The post immediately sparked outrage and confusion among fans and social media users.
Reacting to the post on the kidnapping case by the Instagram blog, Davido took to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a stern warning to the blog. He wrote, “One day go be one day… continue… my karma no dey always tey.”
Following the backlash and the singer’s response, the blog swiftly deleted the post. However, the controversy has further fueled discussions on the spread of misinformation on social media and its potential consequences.
