Blxckie Breaks Down The Creative Process Behind KFC’s ‘OriginalFeedsOriginal’ Anthem. South African hip-hop heavyweight Blxckie recently sat down for an interview to discuss the latest collaboration with Khuli Chana and 25K for the KFC OriginalFeedsOriginal campaign. The track, which brings together three different generations of SA hip-hop, was more than just a brand collaboration—it was a long time coming.

Blxckie Breaks Down The Creative Process Behind KFC’s ‘OriginalFeedsOriginal’ Anthem

When asked about working with Khuli Chana, Blxckie acknowledged the Motswako legend’s unique approach:

“First, I’ve worked with Khuli because he is the OG, different styles of working. I think he had his verses mapped out in a way. But as the brand, you have a lot of stuff you have to tweak and change. But yeah man, Khuli is a dope guy, planning on working on more stuff going forward, and of course, me and 25K always tapping in.”

Interestingly, the song’s journey started long before KFC entered the picture. Blxckie revealed that the beat had been sitting in his vault for a while, originally produced by MashBeatz and intended for another project:

“I had the beat in the vault, so the original beat was released by Mash. It had me, one of my event guys, he used to rap back then. So I was like, let’s jump onto this MashBeat—it was fire. But then it wasn’t really my style, so I didn’t really drop it, I kept it. But when I went through a bunch of sounds with Khuli for the campaign, he was like, ‘Yo, this beat is fire, let’s grab it and get on it and make a new song.’ That’s how it came about.”

The final version seamlessly blended Blxckie’s contemporary flair, Khuli’s Motswako expertise, and 25K’s street-honed lyricism, making it sound as though the three artists recorded it together in the same studio—even though that wasn’t the case.

“Me and 25K have been in the studio maybe like five or six times. Here in Jozi, out in Cape Town—just tweaking the song, making little changes.”

Beyond the music, the KFC OriginalFeedsOriginal campaign is about giving back, something Blxckie is personally invested in. When asked about the impact of the initiative, he emphasized the importance of uplifting his community:

“From a brand perspective, it’s super important. I think this year I’m really focusing on just making sure I’m giving back to the people back home, giving back to whoever helped me on the way to get here. Adding hope is something fire for me.”

With the song now out, it’s clear that this collaboration isn’t just about music—it’s about legacy, unity, and uplifting the culture. As Blxckie, Khuli Chana, and 25K continue to push boundaries, fans can expect even more exciting collaborations in the future.
