Omowunmi, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has publicly expressed her anger towards Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who administered the fatal injection that led to her husband’s death on September 12, 2023.
In an interview with Arise TV, Omowunmi made it clear that she holds deep resentment for Ogedengbe, blaming her for the tragedy and accusing her of a lack of remorse despite admitting that Mohbad had a negative reaction to the injection.
The incident has remained a source of turmoil for Omowunmi, who, at the young age of 24, was forced into widowhood. Mohbad was buried on September 13, 2023, but just eight days later, his body was exhumed by police for an autopsy to investigate the cause of his death.
“I can never forgive her,” Omowunmi said, referring to Ogedengbe’s “nonchalant attitude” in the aftermath of Mohbad’s passing. “She admitted that it was the injection he reacted to, but since then, she has shown no remorse. She’s been out partying, living her life, while I’m here suffering, trapped in grief.”
Omowunmi expressed her disbelief that Ogedengbe appeared unbothered by the devastating consequences of her actions, even hinting that the injection could have been more than a mere mistake. “I don’t know if it was an accident or if she was sent with the wrong intentions, but the fact that she remains so indifferent makes me question everything,” she said.
The widow also shared her suspicions about Ogedengbe’s role in the events surrounding Mohbad’s death. According to Omowunmi, the nurse had been recommended by a friend of the singer, Spending, who claimed she had been his personal nurse for three years. The nurse was called in after Mohbad’s regular nurse was unavailable, and at the time, Mohbad was only recovering from a swollen hand due to an injury sustained in a fight.
Despite the explanation, Omowunmi remains unconvinced. “She’s been acting like nothing happened, like she has no accountability for what she did. It makes me doubt if the injection was truly a mistake,” she added.
On March 14, Ogedengbe is scheduled to attend an inquest into Mohbad’s death, and Omowunmi has vowed to confront the nurse. “I want to hear what she will say. People are already saying she will be coached on what to say. If I face her, I will tell her that she will experience everything she has done to me,” she said firmly.
Ogedengbe’s actions have drawn widespread attention, leading to legal proceedings. In February, a magistrate court announced that she would be prosecuted for reckless and negligent acts under Section 251 (e) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. However, for Omowunmi, no legal action can replace the heartbreak of losing her husband and the life they had planned together.
