Brooklyn Mirage gets an impressive 4.0 upgrade and announces 2025 headliners like Sara Landry, Alesso, Peggy Gou, and Rezz!
When Brooklyn Mirage opened less than a decade ago, it made an immediate impact as the largest fully contained, open air venue in the New York City scene. Not long after that, it was voted one of the top electronic music venues globally, attracting both talent and fans from around the world. Since then, its popularity and spectacle have continued to grow. This has brought trials and tribulations, both of which are being addressed head on in 2025 with the launch of Brooklyn Mirage 4.0.
In the words of the Mirage team, “Since its inception, The Brooklyn Mirage has continuously evolved, pioneering a new standard for nightlife by offering an open-air sanctuary where world-class artists and audiences unite. True to its name, each winter, The Mirage disappears, only to regenerate in the spring. This year, however, marks a radical transformation — one that will redefine the boundaries of music, technology, culture, dance experience, and hospitality.” And while the devil is in the details, the details seem to support these grandiose assertions.
Let’s start with the visual representation: If the renderings below are true to life, we’re in for quite a treat. In addition to the futuristic and slick design, there are notable improvements to the space.
First, the dancefloor will have no obstructions. The pillars of old have been completely removed. Next, opera house style box seating has been added around the sides, providing a semi-private experience with ample dance space and unobstructed stage views.
The updated design won’t just look better; it will function better as well.
What patrons can’t see in the redesign will slowly become apparent to those attending multiple shows, especially if they cross genres. One improvement includes a 400,000-pound roof rigging capacity. I fully expect that Rezz will bring her new Portal to the show on May 30, and I can’t wait to see how she and others take advantage of this capacity. Here’s hoping others take advantage of this system, too.
For those familiar with the enormous LED screen of the 3.0 design, get ready for the upgrades of 4.0! The screen will now be “a hyper-realistic 270-degree virtual environment, created by LED screens with a combined 30K resolution, 100 million pixels, and over 3,000 tiles — exceeding the size, density, and scale of visual experiences at some of the world’s largest music festivals.” And if that’s not enough, it includes a fully kinetic shutter system which allows the entire screen to be closed for events that don’t want the bright LEDs as part of the experience. I can honestly say that this may be one of my favorite features because the screen is incredible when fully utilized, but distracting when it is not.
And finally, the new design also promises more room on the dancefloor. It seems that Mirage will not be increasing in capacity, but with all the new tiered sections, that’s more square footage for dancing. Plus, the removal of the pillars and reconfiguration of the rear section will allow for more usable space on the ground level.
For the skeptics that really focus on sound — and were not impressed with the 3.0 design — there are upgrades especially for you as well!
WIth the new design comes a new sound system, too. It’s a fully customized setup from L-Acoustics that includes over 100 speakers and subwoofers specifically placed for equally impressive sound at every location in the venue. Those who love the upper levels of Mirage should hear an improvement over those areas’ lackluster previous sound. This is especially important with the addition of an entirely redesigned rear section of mezzanine levels with more room and better flow than ever before.
The Brooklyn Mirage has always been a place to dance, to lose oneself in moments of pure, electrifying energy. It’s a space where people, community, and culture converge to create unforgettable memories. When we decided to rebuild the venue from the ground up, we aimed to honor its legacy while expanding the dancefloor, creating immersive side-quest spaces, and pushing the boundaries of music, art, and technology. This is not just an upgrade — it’s a rebirth. The New Mirage will be everything fans worldwide love about this space — while delivering a completely new, mind-blowing sensory experience. New York City deserves a venue that evolves with the culture, and that’s exactly what we’re creating.

Some details that weren’t available at the time of that interview include new signage and lighting both inside and outside the venue; rideshare dropoff zones and enhanced cellular service; and the addition of a trained team of guest ambassadors. That last point is notable because one of the ambassadors’ many objectives will be to see that guests don’t end up in the hands of the security team.
As mentioned earlier, and in the Josh Wyatt interview, the devil is in the details, and we’ll see how this all plays out IRL very soon. I’m cautiously optimistic and, honestly, feeling like, for the first time, Brooklyn Mirage and Avant Gardner are responding to patron feedback. I’m looking forward to the upcoming season to validate these feelings.
