Diego Simeone was left furious after his team, Atletico Madrid got knocked out in the second round of the UEFA Champions League by Real Madrid on penalty shoot-outs with Julian Alvarez goal ruled out.
The game was filled with drama and alot of excitement for the supporters of both team and also the neutrals who were watching with no personal interest attached to the match. However, what felt like a peaceful game of football between the two Madrid teams went off when Julian Alvarez penalty was ruled out for kicking the ball twice according to the VAR.
What did Diego Simeone say about Julian Alvarez penalty?
“To anyone here: raise your hand if you saw that Julián touched the ball twice in the penalty. Come on! And? Ready? Nobody raises theirs. Another question, I have never seen VAR call to review a penalty in a shootout”.
Real Madrid won the game 4-2 on penalties to progress to the quarter-final of the competition where they will face Arsenal at the Emirates stadium in the first leg before hosting the Gunners in the second leg.
