In a heartwarming turn of events, Fuji musicians Taye Currency and Pasuma have officially put an end to their much-talked-about feud, marking a significant moment in the Nigerian music industry.
The rivalry, which began last year, was sparked when Currency publicly criticized Pasuma, claiming the 57-year-old veteran had been in the Fuji industry long enough. Currency also suggested that revealing certain details could escalate matters, warning Pasuma not to underestimate him.
However, the tension between the two came to a dramatic halt after a video surfaced on Instagram showing Currency publicly begging Pasuma for forgiveness while in Saudi Arabia. In the emotional clip, Pasuma is seen embracing Currency as he apologizes on his behalf to their fans.
Pasuma, visibly moved, urged his supporters to forgive Currency and let go of the animosity. “All of you outside, we beg you. The noise was too much, and we know it was not supposed to go that way,” Pasuma said. “You can all see that we are on God’s land. He has come to beg me. And for him to beg me, he is also apologizing to everyone outside. I am begging my fans and for those supporting Taye too.”
Currency, in turn, expressed deep respect for Pasuma, calling him a “father and boss” from whom he had learned invaluable lessons. Reflecting on their 32-year-long relationship, Currency acknowledged Pasuma’s mentorship and guidance in his career. “Pasuma and I started way back. I have been with Pasuma for the past 32 years since 1993. None of my peers should use this opportunity to brag before me,” he said.
Currency also emphasized the importance of respecting one’s mentors. “I listen to Pasuma; he has never cursed me. Whoever raises your hand up is your boss and father,” he stated. “Pasuma did not argue that Wasiu Ayinde is his father, nor do I argue that Pasuma is my father. Do not take it for granted.”
