Nigerian singer Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, has paid heartfelt tribute to music superstar Davido as he marked 9 years since the release of his breakout single Eleko.
Taking to social media, the Certified Loner (No Competition) crooner reflected on the pivotal moment in 2016 when Davido signed him to Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), launching his career into the spotlight. In a nostalgic post, Mayorkun shared the cover art of Eleko, his debut track under DMW, and simply wrote, “Thank you for all,” in a message directed to Davido.
Mayorkun, who has since moved on from DMW and is now affiliated with Olamide’s YBNL, has remained vocal about the instrumental role Davido played in shaping his journey as an artist. In previous interviews, he revealed how he lived with Davido for three years, an experience he describes as transformative.
Despite no longer being signed to DMW, the bond between the two artists remains strong, with Davido frequently showing support for Mayorkun’s projects.
Mayorkun’s anniversary post serves as both a tribute and a reminder of the enduring impact Davido has had on the careers of many young talents in Nigeria’s music industry.
