In a candid interview on The Breakfast Club, award-winning Nigerian singer Davido has opened up about his personal experiences with relationships, declaring his commitment to monogamy moving forward.
The hitmaker, known for his chart-topping hits and lavish lifestyle, shared his reflections on the importance of peace in a relationship. Davido revealed that despite his fame and fortune, he has learned that the greatest joy comes from a tranquil home, free of drama.
“I’ve been through it all,” he said, speaking of his past with women. “I’ve had the highs of my career, but the best time is when there are no problems at home. It doesn’t matter how much money you make — nothing beats the peace that comes from not worrying about what’s happening behind closed doors.”
Davido, who has five children from four different women, made a firm vow: “I’m not cheating again. I have five kids from four women, and I’ve learned my lessons.”
He further emphasized his newfound outlook on life, sharing a poignant message about the importance of mental and emotional peace. “There’s nothing like waking up and not having your heart race as you check your phone. That’s real peace, and I’m not looking for any more drama,” he added.
In the interview, Davido also spoke about the influence of his uncles, particularly those who have multiple wives. Despite their wealth, he said they still face challenges in their relationships. “I’ve seen situations in Nigeria, especially in the east, where people have multiple wives. My uncle, who is a governor, has two wives. Another uncle’s wives even live together in harmony, but they still face problems despite all their money. That’s not the life I want.”
His comments come as Davido continues to navigate his personal life in the spotlight. In 2019, he proposed to Chioma, his long-time partner, but their relationship hit a rough patch in 2021 amid allegations of infidelity. However, the couple has since reconciled, and in June 2024, they celebrated a traditional wedding.
Davido’s family life is also a topic of conversation, as he is the proud father of five children: twins with Chioma, Imade with Sophia Momodu, Hailey with Amanda, and Dawson with Larissa London. Despite past controversies, the singer seems determined to move forward with a more focused, monogamous future.
