Afrobeats sensation and award-winning artist Davido has finally released his much-anticipated fifth studio album, ‘5ive’, igniting excitement across the global music scene. The 17-track project hit streaming platforms in the early hours of Friday, April 18, after initially being scheduled for a March 14 release.
With ‘5ive’, Davido pulls out all the stops, enlisting an impressive roster of international collaborators. Jamaican stars 450 and Shenseea, South African hitmaker Musa Keys, American superstars Chris Brown and Becky G, and French crooners Tayc and Dadju all make appearances. Representing Nigeria’s vibrant music scene are local heavyweights Victony, Odumodublvck, Chike, and Omah Lay.
Davido and Chris Brown, who have a well-established musical chemistry, continue their creative streak with the standout track ‘Titanium’. Their longstanding collaboration history adds a familiar yet fresh dynamic to the album.
The tracklist also features songs like ‘5ive’, ‘Anything’, ‘Be There Still’, ‘CFMF’, ‘10 Kilo’, ‘Offa Me’, ‘Don’t Know’, ‘R&B’, ‘Awuke’, ‘Holy Water’, ‘Nuttin Dey’, ‘Lately’, ‘Tek’, ‘Funds’, ‘Lover Boy’, and ‘With You’ — offering a diverse sonic palette that showcases Davido’s versatility.
Ahead of the full album drop, fans got a taste of what was coming through three pre-released singles: ‘Be There Still’, ‘Awuke’ featuring YG Marley, and ‘Funds’ featuring Odumodu Blvck and Chike.
Describing ‘5ive’ as a deeply personal project, Davido previously shared, “This is straight from the heart — my story, my truth, and my growth.”
Since bursting onto the scene in 2012 with his breakout hit ‘Dami Duro’, Davido has remained a dominant force in African music. ‘5ive’ follows the success of his previous albums: ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ (2012), ‘A Good Time’ (2019), ‘A Better Time’ (2020), and ‘Timeless’ (2023).
