Arsenal’s top transfer target ahead of the June 2025 transfer window, Nico Williams, has responded to questions about his future.
Nico Williams has expressed his happiness at Athletic Club despite ongoing transfer speculation linking him to Arsenal and Barcelona. The 22-year-old Spain international reportedly remains a priority target for both clubs, but he turned down their advances last summer to stay with the Basque team. While rumours of a potential move persist, Williams is currently focused on leading Athletic Club to Europa League success this season.
Speaking to Sport, Williams shared his aspirations: “My dream is to lift the champion’s trophy at San Mamés. I have the chance to make history at this club. The dream never ends. Right now, I’m fully committed to tomorrow’s match (Thursday), reaching the final, and winning it. I’m super happy here and have always wanted to feel valued here. This season is a perfect 10/10 for me.”
Williams has a release clause of €58 million (£48m/$60m), which could be adjusted if he signs a new contract with his childhood club. While his future may become one of the summer’s major transfer stories, the winger appears focused on achieving Europa League glory, with the final set to take place at Athletic Club’s Estadio de San Mamés.
