Nigerian Highlife legend Bright Chimezie has showered praise on Afrobeats stars Davido and Omah Lay for their collaborative hit single With You, which creatively samples his iconic 1980s track Because of English.
In a heartwarming video shared via his Instagram page, the veteran musician was seen dancing with joy to the song while commending the duo for paying homage to his timeless sound.
“You can see I’m already vibing to the song. It’s a beautiful piece of work, very wonderful. I truly appreciate that you mentioned drawing inspiration from this song I recorded many years ago,” Chimezie remarked.
Responding with admiration, Davido took to the comments section to honor the music legend in Igbo, writing, “Ihe di ka gi akokwala m. Chief Sir Bright Chimezie, Ezigbote Onye Egwu,” which means “People like you inspire me. Chief Sir Bright Chimezie, a true music legend.”
