Jennifer Lopez is facing a $300,000 lawsuit for allegedly posting copyrighted images from the 2025 Golden Globes on her social media accounts without permission.
The lawsuit, filed by celebrity photographer Edwin Blanco and the photo agency Backgrid, accuses the singer and actress of copyright infringement after she shared two red carpet photos from the January 5 event. Lopez dazzled in a white gown and faux fur coat, later posting five images with the caption: “GG Weekend Glamour.”
While the photos were widely reshared by fans and fashion outlets, Blanco and Backgrid claim two of the images were used without proper licensing. The plaintiffs are seeking $150,000 for each image, citing the unauthorized use as a commercial move to promote Lopez’s personal brand and partnerships.
“Ms. Lopez’s unauthorized use of the images is commercial in nature, intended for the purpose of self-promotion,” the lawsuit states. “She used the images to spotlight the designers of her clothing and jewelry, leveraging publicity from the event to promote fashion affiliations and brand deals.”
According to court documents, Lopez’s representatives had previously agreed to terms with the agency but failed to finalize the deal.
This isn’t Lopez’s first brush with copyright disputes over photos. She faced similar lawsuits in 2019 and 2020 for posting unlicensed images taken by paparazzi.
Representatives for Lopez have not yet commented on the latest legal filing.
