Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a possible replacement for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez in the June 2025 transfer window.

Chelsea Football Club have made a formal approach to AC Milan to explore the potential signing of French international goalkeeper Mike Maignan according to reports as a possible replacement for Robert Sánchez.

The move comes as Maignan’s contract situation at the San Siro remains unresolved, with the player yet to agree terms on a new deal.

The 28-year-old has long been on Chelsea’s radar, and the club is now actively monitoring the developments in Milan, fully aware of the growing uncertainty surrounding Maignan’s long-term future.

While no agreement has been reached, Chelsea’s interest is described as serious, and initial contact between both clubs has taken place. Maignan, widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe, has been a key figure for Milan.

His commanding presence, elite shot-stopping, and distribution have drawn praise across Serie A and on the international stage, making him a top target for clubs seeking to strengthen in goal.

Chelsea, who are evaluating their goalkeeping options ahead of the 2025/2026 season, view Maignan as a potential long-term solution.

Despite having multiple goalkeepers in their current setup, including Robert Sánchez and Djordje Petrović, the club is reportedly seeking a more experienced and consistent presence between the posts.

The final decision now rests with AC Milan, who must determine whether to open formal negotiations or hold firm in their efforts to extend Maignan’s contract.

With talks at a standstill, Chelsea’s approach may prompt Milan to accelerate internal discussions or prepare for a high-profile transfer scenario.
