Nigerian music star Peter Okoye of P-Square has addressed recent allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), reaffirming his commitment to speaking his truth despite ongoing controversies.

The controversy began after a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Clement Onwuenwunor, on June 4, 2025, publicly faulted Peter’s statements to the EFCC, accusing the singer of providing misleading information about his educational background and company finances. It was alleged that Peter, who previously claimed to be a University of Abuja graduate, actually dropped out in his first year, a detail that has sparked widespread debate online.

In response to the allegations involving the EFCC, Peter Okoye took to social media to clear the air and express his frustration over what he described as deliberate attempts to discredit him. He also drew a connection to the tragic circumstances surrounding the late singer Mohbad, stating that witnessing how situations can be twisted after one’s death influenced his decision to stop playing the role of “the bigger person.”

Peter wrote: “Exactly what I was talking about: their publicist doing everything to make me look like a liar. I am not MayD or Cynthia Morgan; I am Peter Okoye, the one and only The Rock/Okwute of the Okoyes. The truth shall surely prevail.”

He added that moving forward, he would continue to speak openly about his experiences, regardless of public opinion, declaring: “After watching everything about Mohbad’s death and how the whole thing played out to date, I decided I would never play the bigger person nor act as the mature one. So love me or hate me, I will continue speaking my truth.”

The statement has since ignited conversations across social media, with fans and observers weighing in on the ongoing drama surrounding the artist.
