CAF reveal new prize money for WAFCON 2024

CAF have unveiled a new prize money for the winner of the highly anticipated WAFCON 2024 scheduled to commence in July 2025.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a landmark increase in prize money for the 2024 edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) which will start in July 2025.

It has been confirmed that the prize money for WAFCON 2024 has been increased by 100%. CAF has doubled the total rewards which indicates a significant step toward strengthening the women’s game across the continent.

What is the full breakdown of WAFCON 2024 prize money for all countries?

According to the new structure, the winner of the WAFCON 2024 tournament will receive $1,000,000, up from the previous $500,000. The runner-up will earn USD 500,000, while the teams finishing third and fourth will take home $350,000 and $300,000 respectively.

Quarter-finalist teams will each be awarded $200,000. In addition, teams finishing third and fourth in their respective groups will receive $150,000 and $125,000. This revised structure brings the total prize pool for the tournament to $3,475,000.

The decision highlights CAF’s ongoing commitment to the professionalisation and advancement of women’s football in Africa.

With this announcement, CAF continues to demonstrate its dedication to building a more competitive and rewarding environment for female footballers, while inspiring the next generation of talent across the continent.
