Rush Hour (1998), starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, has recently been re-aired on USA Network with a trigger warning.
Before the film begins, viewers are now greeted with a disclaimer:
“We all love our buddy comedies … but this movie was created in a different time. FYI certain depictions, language and humor may seem outdated and at times offensive.”
The move is part of a broader trend among content providers to issue warnings for older films that may not align with modern social norms.
Rush Hour follows the unlikely partnership between Detective Inspector Lee (Chan) and LAPD officer James Carter (Tucker) as they team up to rescue a kidnapped diplomat’s daughter. The mix of martial arts action and fast-talking comedy turned the film into a global hit. The film’s success led to two sequels: Rush Hour 2 (2001) and Rush Hour 3 (2007).
