
Noni Madueke in his first interview as an Arsenal player has revealed the reason behind his decision to dump Chelsea for the Gunners.
Arsenal in an official announcement made today, Friday, July 18, 2025, have confirmed the signing of Noni Madueke in a deal worth an initial £48.5 million from Chelsea and the English forward has revealed his reason behind his decision to move to North London.
The 23-year-old, who was part of Chelsea’s squad at the Club World Cup in the United States, departed the team before their 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final to complete his move to the Emirates.
Madueke agreed to a five-year contract with Arsenal, with the total fee potentially rising above £50 million through performance-related add-ons.
Taking to Instagram, he expressed his excitement: “Humbled and blessed to be here. Thank you to everyone that made this possible. I can’t wait to get on the pitch and start to repay the faith shown in me. It’s going to be so special.”
Madueke made 92 appearances for Chelsea after joining from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for £30 million. He scored 20 goals during his time at the club and played a key role in their UEFA Conference League triumph last season.
When asked the reason behind his move, Noni added: “To win all the competitions we’re in, I feel like we’re definitely capable of doing that. And also to help the team in every way I can and grow as a player, but also as a person.”
