Nigerian music fans are in for a treat as two of the country’s most celebrated artists, Johnny Drille and Tiwa Savage, have officially announced their first-ever collaboration.

Their new single, OVER THE MOON, is scheduled to drop this Friday, August 15, 2025.

The announcement was made via a short video snippet, giving fans a glimpse into the music video’s aesthetic. The clip features Johnny Drille, known for his signature folk and alternative sound, performing in a dreamy, moonlit setting, while the lyrics “Over the moon, take me over to you” hint at a romantic and soulful ballad. The fusion of Drille’s unique style with Tiwa Savage’s powerhouse vocals is expected to create a compelling new sound, bridging the gap between their respective fanbases.

Johnny Drille, signed to Mavin Records, has built a dedicated following with his distinct sound and emotionally resonant songs. His discography includes his debut album, Before We Fall Asleep (2021), and EPs such as Hard Guy Confessions (2024). He is also well-known for his annual “Johnny’s Room Live” concerts, which have become a staple event for his fans. In recent times, he has also released several singles like Believe Me and Angelina, which features Fireboy DML.

Tiwa Savage, often hailed as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” has a career spanning over a decade with global recognition. Her albums, including Once Upon a Time (2013), R.E.D. (2015), and Celia (2020), have produced numerous hit songs. Savage also recently made a foray into film, serving as an executive producer for her debut movie, Water & Garri, which premiered on Prime Video. She is also currently working on a new album, This One Is Personal, which she has described as a return to her R&B roots.
