Like It Or Not, Ed Is Giving Us A Lot More Sheeran Ahead of His New Album, “Play.”
Ed Sheeran’s latest single “A Little More” is a blues-tinged ode to self-preservation and moral courage. Written alongside DAVE, Blake Slatkin, Cirkut, and longtime collaborator Johnny McDaid, the track’s sharp lyricism sits atop warm instrumentation, delivering a message that’s grounded, but quietly defiant. It follows last month’s “Sapphire,” Sheeran’s collaboration with Arijit Singh, and marks another step closer to Sheeran’s upcoming album, “Play”, dropping 12 September.
The Emil Nava directed video doubles as a reunion with Rupert Grint in a follow-up to Sheeran’s “Lego House” video. It’s equal parts heartfelt and tongue-in-cheek. Dare we say… absurd in the best way? With multiple costume changes, sight gags, and a surreal wedding scene, “A Little More” gives us a lot more of Ed. It’s meta, mischievous, and steeped in the kind of self-aware humour that keeps Sheeran’s pop persona from taking itself too seriously. Much like the track itself, it’s a reminder that even in moments of levity, there’s a thread of craftsmanship pulling everything together.
