Afrobeats megastar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly defended his close friend and associate Ubi Franklin following online allegations linking the music executive to a stolen watch in Miami.
The rumours began earlier this week after Tufab, an associate of Wizkid, reposted claims suggesting Franklin’s name was tied to the alleged theft. The speculation quickly gained traction on social media, prompting responses from notable figures, including Davido’s elder brother, Adewale Adeleke.
In a statement released on Wednesday, August 13, Franklin dismissed the allegations as completely false and unfounded. “I am aware of the recent circulation on social media linking my name to an alleged theft. Reacting in the comment section of Ubi Franklin, Davido declared that his friend owed no one an explanation. Steering attention away from the controversy, the singer instead reflected on his recent lavish wedding to Chioma in Miami. “We had an amazing wedding, perfect in fact! Me and my wife’s body still dey sweet us like this. NOTHING una fit do, say, or make up will ever change the fact that we had a fairytale wedding! And one of the best days—if not the best day—of our lives! The whole world celebrated us,” Davido wrote.
