Adekunle Gold has once again captured hearts, not with a hit single this time, but with an unexpected act of generosity. The award-winning singer has gifted N250,000 each to several Nigerian graduates who earned first-class degrees.

The heartwarming gesture began with a simple post on X (formerly Twitter), where the 38-year-old artist asked followers who graduated with first-class honours to share their academic transcripts.

“If you graduated with First class, post your transcripts,” he wrote.

The tweet quickly went viral, sparking thousands of responses from excited fans who shared photos of their certificates and transcripts, hoping to be among the lucky few selected. Gold later announced that recipients were chosen at random and advised them to check their inboxes for confirmation.

Soon after, social media was flooded with grateful messages and screenshots showing proof of N250,000 transfers, as fans thanked the singer for his unexpected and uplifting support.

This surprise giveaway is the latest in a series of philanthropic moves by Adekunle Gold, who has used his platform to advocate for social change and health awareness. Just last month, he launched a free health insurance initiative for 1,000 individuals living with sickle cell disease, a condition he has lived with and spoken about publicly, most notably in his 2022 track 5 Star.

Rising to fame in 2015 with his highlife rendition of One Direction’s Story of My Life, titled Sade, Gold signed with YBNL Nation and released his debut album Gold the following year. Since then, he has dropped four more albums, including Tequila Ever After in 2023, cementing his place as one of Afropop’s most respected voices.
