Nigerians have reacted to the Super Eagles’ result against Equatorial Guinea in their opening group game of the AFCON 2023 which is been hosted in Ivory Coast.

The three-time African Champions are looking to make their outing a remarkable one as they look to win the tournament for the fourth time. However, this result puts the team in a difficult position when they face the host nation on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

Here is what Nigerians are saying about the Super Eagles’ performance against Equatorial Guinea.

If the Super Eagles draw Ivory Coast and win Guinea Bissau and Equatorial Guinea lose against Guinea Bissau …

I am very disappointed in the Super Eagles. This is not a good way to start the tournament. Unacceptable! #NGAEQG #AFCON2023

I know I’ll trigger them but f**k it.

Nigeria are massively overrated. Not going near the AFCON trophy.#NGAEQG pic.twitter.com/vd56bHeIHA

Victor Osimhen shows so much hunger, desire & determination when playing for Nigeria. If all the players had this much passion – Super Eagles would have been doing exploits. Such a rare gem this man! #NGAEQG #GoSuperEagles #AFCON2023 pic.twitter.com/siEk0LOPQQ

Stephen Keshi didn’t win his first game in the 2013 AFCON and still won the tournament..

Jose Peseiro is following the books and we should all be patient with him..

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will bring the trophy home..#NGAEQG #AFCON2023 #Osimhen #SoarSuperEagles pic.twitter.com/dIJF647du7

We ought to be cooking and roasting this Equatorial Guinea team by now, their goalkeeper Owono is truly doing the Lord’s job for them. The longer it goes, the more confident they would become like we saw in the first half. #NGAEQG #AFCON2024 #TotalEnergiesAFCON2023 pic.twitter.com/s6Ln3c0pi3
