AFCON 2023: Prize payouts revealed for Nigeria and Ivory Coast as finalists

Here is the prize money Ivory Coast will receive as the winners of AFCON 2023, and the amount Nigeria will get as the runner-up in the tournament.

Following the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations 2023, questions as to how much in prize money the finalists, Nigeria and Ivory Coast will receive have been raised.

It was confirmed that the winner of AFCON 2023 which commenced on Saturday, January 13, 2024 in Ivory Coast will receive a 40 per cent increase in the total prize money for the tournament.

With Ivory Coast winning the AFCON 2023 title, The Elephants will receive a prize money of 7 million dollars from CAF.

Describing the reason for this increase the president of the football Federation Dr Patrice Motsepe confirmed, “CAF has made significant progress over the past two years in increasing the Prize Money of the AFCON and all its other major competitions. We have increased the Prize Money of the AFCON Winner to USD 7 000 000 which is a 40% increase from the previous AFCON Prize Money. I am confident that a portion of the Prize Money will contribute to developing football and also benefit all the football stakeholders, as well as assist our Member Associations with their administrations.”

The Super Eagles of Nigeria at AFCON 2023

With Nigeria finishing second at AFCON 2023, the Super Eagles squad will receive a sum of 4 million dollars for their efforts in the competition.

Countries knocked out of the semi-finals will also receive 2.5 million dollars and the teams that finished as quarter-finalist will also receive 1.3 million dollars each.
