Following his absence in the final match of the group stage of AFCON 2023, Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong in an exclusive interview has shared new updates as regards his injury ahead of the round of 16 fixture Nigeria vs Cameroon.
With the confirmation of the opponents of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the round of 16 of AFCON 2023, the squad’s captain and defender William Troost-Ekong in an exclusive interview with media personality Oganla Media has revealed if he will be available for the must-win fixture against Cameroon.
The defender revealed that there was no cause for alarm and fans had no reason to be worried as he will be back with the team in training for the next fixture in the competition.

He said, “I’m not out of the tournament; I’m getting better; I am looking to return to training in two days.”
Troost-Ekong has been instrumental in the Super Eagles’ campaign so far with his experience as well as his leadership role in the team. He was replaced by another experienced player for the team in Kenneth Omeruo who was also efficient in the fixture against Guinea-Bissau that sealed Nigeria’s qualification to the round of 16 of AFCON 2023.
