In a transfer move that shocked the club football space, American club side, Bay FC, announced the signing of Zambia’s Racheal Kundananji on a permanent deal which officially makes her the most expensive female signing in the history of club football.
Racheal Kundananji who was a player for Madrid CFF has been unveiled by the American National Women’s Soccer League, Bay FC today, Tuesday, February 13, 2024, as the latest signing of the club following the completion of deals for the African Female Footballer of the Year 2023 Asisat Oshoala and many more.
Racheal Kundananji cost Bay FC 735,000 euros the highest fee for a female club transfer in the history of football a deal that surpassed the initial record of 500,000 euros held by Chelsea following their recently concluded transfer for Levante’s Mayra Ramirez.
The signing of Racheal Kundananji who has been categorized as one of the best African female footballers of 2023, is a huge transfer statement for Bay FC heading into the NWSL as a newly developed club and it solidifies their intention to compete and also challenge for titles.

Speaking on her move to the US with BBC Sports, Racheal stated, “People in Zambia will be surprised but they will be so happy. I want to give the [Bay FC] fans what they want – to enjoy the games, to enjoy seeing me playing and scoring.”
