Canadian rapper and songwriter AK Slim has finally released his highly anticipated music video for Shuka Chini, his latest single featuring Tanzanian heavyweight rapper and hit maker G Nako.
The video, shot in Dar es Salaam and directed by Visior Mufasa, was completed in just one day, with final edits handled by Toronto-based video editor New Visuals.
“Shuka Chini” captures the raw energy of Dar es Salaam, pairing a cross-cultural sound with lively street scenes of AK Slim and G Nako performing together. The video captures the two artists in charismatic performances, flanked by dancers and set against stylish urban backdrops that match the song’s infectious bounce.

Speaking in a recent interview, the “Shuka Chini” project came together after AK Slim and G nako met at Wanene Studios in Dar es Salaam. A few days later, they hit the studio with producer Daz Naledge, laying down the track that would become one of AK Slim’s most polished offerings to date.
Born in Calgary and based in Vancouver, AK Slim is of Tanzanian, Nigerian, and African-Canadian descent. Despite his Canadian upbringing, his ties to Tanzania run deep — he’s been visiting the country since childhood and was raised in a community shaped by the Tanzanian diaspora.

In various interviews, AK Slim has stated that music runs deep in his family. His grandfather, a Nigerian native, founded Calgary’s AFRIKADEY! festival, which has hosted celebrated artists including K’NAAN, Angelique Kidjo, and Arrested Development.
Shuka Chini is AK Slim’s second collaboration with a Tanzanian artist, following his 2023 breakout hit My Style featuiring Country Wizzy which earned him widespread recognition in Tanzania.
